Artistic Ardmore

THE ARTISTS TRAIL

The Arts continue to be an integral part of the Pattern Festival each year. Ardmore is extremely fortunate to be home to a number of very talented artists and we are delighted to work with these artists to showcase their talent to the thousands who attend the Festival each year. The Artists’ Trail proved a very popular attraction during previous Festivals, with those following the trail being able to visit the studios of Bridget Shelley and Judy Shinnick, as well as Mary Lincoln’s Ardmore Pottery, Breeda O’Brien’s Ardmore Gallery & Tearooms and also seeing local artist Brenda Harris painting in the White Horses Garden on the Main Street. Visitors to the various studios and gallery not only get to view the wonderful art on display, but also, in some cases, to see the artists themselves in action.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Since its inception, the Pattern Festival has provided a variety of artistic attractions, including street theatre and fire spectacular displays by The Rhythm Corporation, Wibbly Wobbly Circus and Buí Bolg; Children’s Puppet Shows, Flea Circus and Circus Workshops, Novelty Puzzlepaths, as well as a Children’s Art Competition in conjunction with local schools. People have also been able to express their artistic flair through Scarecrow Competitions, the St. Paul’s Flower Festival, the Childrens Fancy Dress competition and the annual Sandcastle Competition – all of which bring out the artist in all of us!

FIREWORKS!

One of the highlights each year is the fantastic Fireworks Display over Ardmore Bay on the opening night of the Festival, which enthralls the large crowds. Watch out for this year’s Fireworks which promise to be even more spectacular!!

ARTS AND CRAFTS

The Festival Art & Craft Fair is fast becoming a cornerstone of the Festival calendar. The wide variety of artistic, craft and food stalls lined up along the seawall each year is a wonderfully colourful sight to behold and this year’s Fair promises to be even bigger and better than any to date!! With something to cater for all tastes, the Fair attracts large crowds each year, so don’t forget to mark Ardmore Pattern Festival Sunday in your calendar for the Festival Food & Craft Fair.
