Friday Night

altThis year’s Pattern festival really got off to a flying start on Friday night (22 July), when the fantastic Rhythm Corporation came to town. They added colour, noise and flamboyance to the village as the drummers and dancers took to the stage shortly after 7pm, as the curtain raisers for this year’s Festival. They really got the crowd going as they played the different coloured ‘boomwhackers’ to create a wonderful cacophony of sound.

Then it was the turn of Jungle Boogie – the fabulous 5 piece band played great sounds from the 50’s right up to date and had the large crowd rocking and rolling! The crowd had swelled to thousands by the time the night sky was lit up by a fantastic Fireworks display by Rocket Pyrotechnics – our best ever to date! What a start to the 2011 Festival!

Then it was on to the local pubs for a wonderful choice of music by Ray Barron & Hank Wedel (Keevers’ Bar), Mick Dunne (Round Tower Hotel) and Scooby Snacks (An Tobar).

For a selection of photos from Friday night, see the Photos section of this site. Thanks to local photographer Gerry O’Mahony for sending on his photos to us.
